Our second full day in London was a Sunday, so we decided to start it off by attending a Mass at the Brompton Oratory, the second biggest Catholic church in England. I'd never been to a sung Latin Mass before, and it was beautiful - both the building itself and the Mass. While we didn't feel comfortable taking pictures of the inside, we have some of the front and three-quarter views of the Oratory.
Near the Oratory was the world-famous Harrod's Department Store.
After wandering around there a bit, we decided to head for the Tower of London. On the way to the Tube, we ran across Darwin's Deli, and just couldn't resist a picture (note the slogan).
As we emerged from the Tube and started walking toward the Tower of London, we decided to take a side trip to The Monument.
Only somewhat wearied from that climb, we made our way across over Tower Hill to the Tower of London.
On the way back from the Tower, we got our first good glimpse of a building that's very new to the London skyline... we didn't know its name, but heard someone refer to it by a nickname: the Erotic Gherkin. This is supposedly due to how it looks at night, which we were to see later...
